Consumers should have choices, and the
knowledge to put those choices into action. Even the seemingly simple
choice of "paper vs. plastic" at the check-out counter has
fueled complicated decisions: choose paper due to its ease of
recyclability and speed of biodegradation; or choose plastic because no
trees were killed to make it.
Consumer
choices creates income for businesses. It is what inspires a company to
make certain items, to use certain materials or certain methods of
manufacture. Each consumer's decision, when added with others, creates a
huge pressure on industry to change. When consumers choose environmentally
friendly products, they create industries that make environmentally
friendly products. A wonderful change that can save our earth and keep it
clean and beautiful for generations.
